Recalibration

I enjoyed the evening at Recalibration, a pop-up exhibition of recent artworks by Paul Mericle. The exhibited artworks are the result of a collaborative project whereby the artist invited the public to provide creative constraints for subject matter, material and color, which were then “recalibrated” to create the works on view. The works feature abstracted figurative imagery, bold color, and fractured materials applied to produce a sculptural relief.

The exhibition was held in a pop-up gallery installed at the CJ Foreign Car garage, located in Silver Spring, Maryland for one night only, June 28, from 7p.m.-12 a.m.

Paul Mericle is an artist and teacher who lives and works in Baltimore, Maryland. His work has been exhibited internationally and throughout the Mid-Atlantic region. His sculptures and paintings have appeared at Pallet Project, M Central and Artomatic. The artist has created murals on commission in Washington D.C., Maryland, Florida and California. “Recalibration” is his twenty-second exhibition.
